Health & Safety Policy
The Directors of NEIC fully accept their responsibilities as detailed in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and any subordinate legislation. We believe that people are our most valuable asset, and the measures identified in this document are designed to reflect that belief.
It is our policy to do all that is reasonably practicable to ensure that we provide a safe and healthy environment not just for those who work for us, but for any others whom we may affect through our business activities.

Roles and Responsibilities
Every employee of NEIC has a responsibility for health and safety as defined under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Responsibilities are delegated according to individual roles:
- Directors: Ensure adequate resources, oversee training, and review performance.
- Senior Managers: Ensure risks are managed in all project stages and ensure site conditions support safe operations.
- H&S Consultants: Develop safety plans, conduct inspections, manage incidents, and provide training support.
- Site Managers: Enforce the site-specific H&S plan, induct workers, approve documentation, and conduct safety checks.
- Employees: Follow training, use PPE, report hazards, and maintain safe working practices.
Key Safety Systems
- Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RA/MS) for all tasks.
- Permit to Work systems for high-risk activities like excavation, hot works, and working at height.
- Regular toolbox talks, training sessions, and site inductions.
- Mandatory PPE use across all sites.
- Routine health surveillance and DSE assessments for office-based staff.
- Strict control over hazardous substances (COSHH).
- Accident reporting, investigation, and RIDDOR compliance.
Emergency & Welfare Provisions
NEIC ensures emergency procedures are in place, including fire safety, first aid provision, and clear signage. Welfare facilities such as toilets, canteens, and drinking water are maintained on all sites.
Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
The policy is reviewed annually or following changes in legislation, with continuous improvements made through audits, inspections, and employee feedback. Directors and the H&S team monitor and adjust practices to maintain compliance and enhance performance.
